What is the ‘biggest ship’ in our life? Of course the answer is friendship. Friendship is important to all of us. Without friends, we may be still unhappy even though we have everything we want. Friendship requires us to give and take. We can have as many friends as we want, but it is different from having good friends. Good friends are like gems. So, having good friends are like having treasures. Whether young or old, all of us need friends. We cannot live in this world without having any friends as ‘no man is an island ’. Friends are our companions to keep us accompanied during happy and lonely times. They are with us all the time to support, love and care for us.

We often need friends to be there for us during our happy and sad times. They would share our joy and sadness with us. Friends will also be there for us to confide in. We can share our problems with them as friends always lend us a sympathetic ear and shoulder to cry on when we are down. Good friends are always on our side to comfort us. They will always provide us with encouragement. They will also support us in everything we do as long as it is the right thing. Whenever we fall, good friends are always there to help us get back on our feet.

As we all know, it takes at least two people to create a friendship. Friendship is a relationship that is not built overnight but it takes time.  It takes a lot of efforts from both sides to build and keep a strong and lasting friendship. Most of us have ‘friends’ that we cannot get along with. However, we cannot think of ourselves all the time as friendship can only last if we sincerely care for one another. Friendship requires understanding from both parties. Therefore, we cannot take our friendships or friends for granted. Accepting help from them is not taking advantage of them, but if we do not appreciate their support, then we are really taking our friendship for granted.

For a friendship to last, we must appreciate our friends and appreciate them for who they are. Good friends will not talk behind us. It is better to talk to each other face to face. We may hurt our friends if we talk behind them without realizing that they are aware of it. Friends should not judge each other. They should support and advise each other instead. If our friends have done something wrong, it is better for us to talk and discuss with them immediately instead of remain silent. Everyone made mistakes in their life. So, we have to learn how to forgive and forget.

Friendship makes life more meaningful. Our lives could otherwise be lonely without friends as friends are the second most important thing for us next to family. We can laugh together and lend each other a shoulder to cry on.  Sharing is caring, that is what a friend does. Friendship is truly a lifeline, for without it, life would be lonely and meaningless. It is worthless if we do not appreciate our friends. Love them for who they are. Before I end this article, I would like to say that I really love all my friends. We are still friends to this very day, ‘Friends Forever’!

Lots of love,
